Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential care and support to individuals in our modern small residential home including young adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex healthcare. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those in our care while ensuring their safety and well-being.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Engage in behaviour management techniques to promote positive interactions and emotional well-being.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor individuals for any adverse reactions.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a trusting relationship.
- Implement first aid procedures when required and maintain a safe environment for all clients.
- Drive or support clients to appointments or activities as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety during transport.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in clients’ conditions.
- With complex needs, full training will be provided.
- An enhanced DBS will be required.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving roles such as learning disability care, or assisted living is advantageous, but a kind, empathetic, and cheerful personality is essential.
- Knowledge of first aid practices is advantageous, but full training will be supplied.
- Experience in behaviour management will be highly regarded.
- A valid driving licence is desirable as the location is fairly remote.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
