This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a large Provider Collaborative (OpCOURAGE) providing mental health and wellbeing care and support for veterans in the North of England. Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Trust are the Lead Provider. Other delivery partners are Pennine Healthcare NHS Trust, Tees, Esk & Wear Valley NHS Trust, Humber NHS Trust, Combat Stress and Walking with the Wounded.

Op COURAGE offers a range of specialist support and treatment for members of the armed forces community. This includes:

helping to recognise and treat early signs of mental health problems, as well as more advanced mental health conditions and psychological trauma,
providing support and treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use,
liaising with charities and local organisations to support wider health and wellbeing, such as help with housing, relationships, finances and employment,
referring to other NHS services, where needed, and
recognising that family may also need help and care and supporting them to access this

LYPFT deliver the Core pathway team across West and South Yorkshire, supporting those veterans who are experiencing a wide range of military experience related mental health needs. Our team also provides psychological intervention and our MDT consists of SMHP’s, Psychological Therapists, Substance Misuse Nurse and Recovery Worker, Peer Support Coordinator and some Medic input.

We need an experienced senior mental health practitioner (Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist), based within West/South Yorkshire. This may be the ideal post for you.

Op COURAGE offers a range of support and treatment, including:

triage, assessment, stabilisation interventions, social and peer support and psychological therapy.
supporting with intensive emergency care and treatment for veterans in a crisis
helping Veterans to access and engage with other NHS mental health services

You will be required to provide triage and assessment for veterans with mental health needs, as well as providing stabilisation interventions within case management.

You will have excellent communication, organisational and clinical reasoning skills. You will support assessments, psychological formulation, risk management and interventions for veterans, working with the MDT to support them to deliver effective care for veterans.

This is a hybrid post, with some working from base and some working from home.

This post requires extensive travel across the West/South Yorkshire locality with the flexibility to cover for colleagues where necessary.

Our operating hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

You will receive training, support and supervision, with a strong emphasis on personal and professional development. This role is community based and it is essential that you have a full UK driving licence and use of a car.
