Full job description

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Linux Systems Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Linux server infrastructure. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our systems, driving operational efficiency and enabling seamless delivery of our solutions to clients worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Linux server environments to support our organization’s evolving needs and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee system configuration, maintenance, and upgrades, implementing best practices to ensure peak performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Develop and implement security measures, including access controls, intrusion detection, and encryption, to protect sensitive data and mitigate cyber threats.
  • Monitor server health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the integration of Linux server solutions into our products and services, providing expert guidance and technical leadership.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in Linux server administration, with a proven track record of managing complex server environments in production environments.
  • Expertise in Linux operating systems, including CentOS, Ubuntu, and Red Hat, coupled with proficiency in command-line utilities and system administration tasks.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs, with experience in network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing security measures on Linux servers, including access controls, encryption, and security hardening techniques.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Bash or Python, for automation, task scheduling, and system administration tasks.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and containerization platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £18,000.00-£38,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
