Job Purpose
Reporting to the Pontocorvo Chair, Professor Sandosh Padmanabhan, and working in collaboration with the PHOENIX pharmacogenomics project across the University and external organisations, the post holder will join the established Pontecorvo team, providing effective operational support to the Pontecorvo programme of work in pharmacogenomics, including the delivery of the PHOENIX trial.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide co-ordination and data management support for the PHOENIX trial (and any other Pontecorvo associated trials) in collaboration with the Clinical Research Facility and the Clinical Trials Unit.
2. Support trial recruitment, liaising with trial clinicians and nurses.
3. Ensuring that investigations (e.g. sample collection, Quality of Life Questionnaires and Patient Reported Outcomes) are carried out as per the study protocols. This involves close liaison with various members of the trial team, laboratory team and hospital staff from a wide range of departments
4. In collaboration with the Pontecorvo clinical team, review/extract data from hospital notes onto case report forms (CRFs) for patients in studies and ensure the data is accurate and up to date with verified source data.
5. Requesting and sending samples for pharmacogenomic testing, which for the PHOENIX trial will require the post holder to be responsible for the labelling, packaging and couriering samples on a daily basis.
6. Liaising with the Pontecorvo clinical team to answer any queries that may be generated from the data collected within specified timelines, ensuring that any additional data is clarified and source data is updated by the clinician responsible for the study.
7. Assist with the maintenance of Investigator Site Files and any other relevant and/or appropriate study documentation.
8. Assist in the processing of amendments, tracking approvals and preparing documentation and supporting the update of the ISF and EDGE™
9. Support the Pontecorvo Chair in the production of reporting artefacts, including producing and providing relevant reports across the Pontecorvo portfolio as part of the required reporting cycle.
10. Build and maintain effective professional relationships, working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the University and externally to share best practice and provide professional support as required.
11. Track and monitor any relevant registers including key decisions and actions, escalating as necessary and preparing status updates for the Pontecorvo Chair.
12. Support the Pontecorvo team in the set up and facilitation of meetings, workshops and events.
13. Provide general administrative support relating to Pontecorvo trial activity (e.g. drafting of high-level correspondence, prepare documents, ad-hoc papers and summary documents to a clear brief using established templates/standards where available and create non-standard formats as required).
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (SVQ 4, HND) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role OR ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s).
A2 Proven track record in the delivery of trial activity and associated workload management
A3 Experience working in a clinical trial environment.
A4 Basic understanding of clinical trials governance and pharmacogenomics.
A6 Understanding of the trial lifecycle.
B1 Awareness of Higher Education organisations, purpose, infrastructure.
B2 Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the NHS research environment.
B3 Basic understanding of pharmacogenomics
C1 Excellent organisational and time management skills, to deal with competing tasks and priorities.

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £32,332 – £36,024 per annum.
This post is full time and fixed term for 1 year initially, with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years.
