Position: Medical Technical Officer
Schedule: Full-time
Location: London Euston
Shift: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours, with weekend rota participation
VISA sponsorship is available for candidates with valid UK visas.
A leading global provider of diagnostic services is seeking a Medical Technical Officer to join their histopathology laboratory team. This role offers the opportunity to support the smooth operation of a high-performance laboratory, ensuring the timely delivery of top-quality histopathology services.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure specimens are processed, cut, stained, and dispatched to the highest standards within agreed turnaround times.
- Assist with managing workloads and ensuring accuracy and quality of work output.
- Maintain proper archiving of all samples.
- Participate in relevant training courses as required.
- Use and maintain histology equipment in accordance with departmental policies.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and laboratory procedures.
- Participate in specimen embedding and other duties as needed.
- Engage in the annual staff appraisal process for continuous professional development.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Allied Biomedical Science or equivalent.
Skills & Experience:
- 1-2 years of histology laboratory experience, including embedding and special stains.
- Proficient in histological techniques, microtomy, and the use of lab-based IT systems.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety protocols and safe laboratory practices.
- Experience with laboratory accreditation processes.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
- Strong passion for delivering high-quality services.
- Must be fit to carry out duties and comply with GDPR regulations.
