Position Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Database Administrator to join our team based in Shoreditch. As a Junior Database Administrator at Razorpoint, you will assist in managing and maintaining our database systems to ensure their performance, security, and availability. This hybrid role combines remote work flexibility with valuable in-office collaboration, providing a great opportunity to kick-start your career in database administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries to ensure efficient operation.
  • Perform routine backups and recovery tasks to safeguard data integrity and availability.
  • Support database security by managing user access and permissions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems and data inconsistencies.
  • Assist with database design and schema modifications based on application requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers and other IT staff to support database integration and application development.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and changes for future reference.
  • Stay updated on the latest database technologies, trends, and best practices.

Skills:

  • Basic understanding of database management systems and SQL.
  • Familiarity with database installation, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of database monitoring and management tools.
  • Experience with cloud-based databases and services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate, or CompTIA Server+ (or in progress).
