Youth Worker & Music Director Position
Job Overview
We are a multicultural church seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker & Music Director to join our team. The ideal candidate must be God-fearing, able to play musical instruments, and capable of teaching and directing young people within our church. They should be able to work effectively with different cultures and have a strong understanding of both English and Twi, both verbally and in writing. This role involves supporting and mentoring young people, helping them develop their skills, confidence, and resilience. Additionally, the candidate will oversee the church’s music ministry, directing choir practices, worship sessions, and other music-related activities. A strong commitment to youth work and the ability to engage effectively with children from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide guidance and support to young people in various settings, including schools, community centres, and youth clubs.
Develop and implement educational programmes that promote personal development, social skills, and emotional well-being.
Foster positive relationships with children and adolescents to encourage their participation in activities and discussions.
Mentor individuals or small groups, offering tailored support based on their specific needs and challenges.
Collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals to create a supportive network for each young person.
Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for reporting purposes while ensuring confidentiality is upheld.
Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in youth work and special education.
Lead the church’s music ministry, including directing choir practices, youth worship sessions, and community music outreach programmes.
Develop musical talents among young people by organising music workshops, vocal training, and instrumental sessions.
Coordinate and lead worship services, ensuring a spiritually enriching and inclusive atmosphere for all church members.
Encourage and nurture the spiritual growth of young people through music and worship, fostering an environment that promotes praise and worship within the church.
Inspire creativity and confidence in young people by guiding them to use their musical talents for community engagement and church events.
Qualifications and Requirements
Proven experience in youth work or a related field is essential.
Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
Knowledge of special education practices is advantageous but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children of varying ages.
A genuine passion for educating and supporting young individuals in their personal growth.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
Relevant qualifications or certifications in youth work, music, or education would be beneficial.
Must be God-fearing, able to play musical instruments, and capable of teaching and directing music within the church.
Ability to work with different cultures and understand both English and Twi, both verbally and in writing.
Experience in organising and leading music-related activities, including choir rehearsals, youth worship sessions, and community music outreach programmes.
Proven leadership in music direction, with the ability to coordinate worship services and lead musical teams effectively.
