Position – Meat Hygiene Inspector – Isle of Man

Salary – £29,300 to £35,300 dependent upon experience

We are currently seeking 2 highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as a Meat Hygiene Inspector. If you are passionate about ensuring food safety and animal welfare standards in the meat industry, this could be the perfect role for you.

We are looking for individuals who are able to start from within the next 6 to 8 weeks for an initial 6-month contract, immediate start would be ideal.

Job Description:

As a Meat Hygiene Inspector, you will be responsible for:

· Providing vital support to the Official Veterinarian as part of a team of MHIs carrying out official controls.

· Conducting thorough post-mortem inspections on carcasses and offal to guarantee food safety standards.

· Ensuring that slaughterhouses and cutting plants comply with animal welfare and food hygiene regulations.

· Supervising the disposal of unfit meat in accordance with industry standards.

· Writing comprehensive reports on the inspection of slaughterhouses and cutting plants.

· Keeping up to date with new and amended regulations in the field of meat hygiene.

· Checking that recommendations from previous inspections have been effectively implemented.

· Other duties as required to uphold the highest standards of meat hygiene and safety.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:

· A degree in veterinary medicine

· Proficiency in communicating in English, both verbally and in writing.

· A strong understanding and commitment to the importance of health, safety, and hygiene in the meat industry.

· The ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

· Possession of a valid driving licence for transportation to different inspection sites.

· At least 1 year experience working with red meat slaughter lines – although full training will be provided.

Hours

37.5 hours between 6.30 and 16.00 Monday to Friday
